2. Simonetti, Moments Musical
Achille Simonetti (1875-1928) Italian violinist and composer. Born in Turin, Italy, he left his family and moved to Bologna. He studied under Dancla, the French violinist, and Paganini's last disciple, Sivori. He moved to England at the age of 16 (1891) and became a member of the first London trio. He was active mainly in England and Ireland. He is known as a chamber musician and educator. His work "Madrigal" for violin and piano has long been incorporated into flute songs and was considered to be a flute work. This "Moment Musical" is also a work for violin and piano, and the title is the same as Schubert's famous work (included in this songbook No. 11), but it means a work with improvisational free optimism. There is no work number.
